Cushing's Syndrome

🚨 Symptoms

Weight gain (central obesity), moon face, buffalo hump, purple striae, easy bruising, hypertension, diabetes, muscle weakness

🔍 Causes

Exogenous corticosteroids (most common), pituitary adenoma (Cushing's disease), adrenal tumor, ectopic ACTH production

💊 Treatment

Taper exogenous steroids if possible, surgical removal of tumor, radiation, medications to suppress cortisol production

📝 Nursing Care

Monitor blood pressure, glucose; assess for signs of infection; skin care; educate on medication; emotional support for body image changes
