Deep Vein Thrombosis (DVT)
🚨 Symptoms
Swelling in one leg, pain or tenderness, warm skin, redness, visible surface veins, leg fatigue
🔍 Causes
Prolonged immobility, surgery, pregnancy, oral contraceptives, smoking, obesity, thrombophilia, cancer, age >60
💊 Treatment
Anticoagulants (heparin, warfarin, DOACs), compression stockings, elevate leg, mobilise with support
📝 Nursing Care
Monitor for signs of pulmonary embolism (chest pain, SOB), teach about anticoagulant safety, measure leg circumference, encourage fluids
