🚨 Symptoms

Acute: flu-like symptoms; chronic: often asymptomatic; late-stage: opportunistic infections, weight loss, fever, diarrhea, neurological symptoms

Human Immunodeficiency Virus infection; transmitted through blood, sexual contact, mother-to-child; destroys CD4 cells

💊 Treatment

Antiretroviral therapy (ART); manage opportunistic infections; PrEP for prevention; PEP after exposure

📝 Nursing Care

Medication adherence support, monitor CD4 count/viral load, prevent transmission, manage opportunistic infections, provide emotional support, reduce stigma
